Carlos Chavéz, visionary.
Born in Mexico and raised in Arizona, Carlos J. Chavéz arrived in America at the age of 3. One of 13 children, Chavéz learned his trade at an early age from his mother. Not having the money to purchase designer clothes for her children, she would dress them in beautiful garments that she made herself.
Never learning to build outfits from patterns, Chavéz’ mother would drape cloth over the children as a form of pattern making. The same artistry used by tailors of the elite in bygone days. This tailoring approach was a luxury of royalty and high stature members of society, but was to quickly become a technique of Chavéz Clothiers.
Upon graduating from college, Chavéz traveled to Europe, visiting 16 countries. Drawing inspiration from the many styles he was exposed to, he thus began his career as a tailor. Since then, he dedicates several trips annually to discover the latest in fashion trends and fabric innovation in Paris, London, Milan, New York.
Over the last 30 years, Chavéz has seen the his business evolve and redefine itself, expanding into equestrian wear and women’s couture. With clients located around the globe, Chavéz has established himself in the fashion community as a leading designer.
